In our Camps, Schools and Head Office we offer a variety of Full Time, Fixed Hours and Casual contracts. This helps us up recruit and employee staff that want to work Full Time (40 hours per week), Fixed Hours (a certain number of hours per week or job shares) and Casual Contracts (zero hours), for staff that want to chose when they work, such as Camp Staff who only work Camps or Cover Staff.

All our staff receive a one day Induction. There’s plenty of time to learn everything you would want to know about starting your new role. We will also issue you with your shiny new uniform, ID badge/s, training hub location and lots more!

All our new staff regardless of role complete our E-Learning course. This 5 module, online course completed before your induction day will prepare you for your first day at work and your new role.

Your training doesn’t just stop when you start your new role. With our Site Managers and Advanced Site Managers training course you can continue your professional development into management and beyond.

E-Learning

E-Learning

All our new staff complete a range of new starter training. One of the first pieces of training you will complete is the Fit For Sport E-Learning course. This is a requirement of your employment and is completed each year you work with the company. You will first complete this as a new  employee completing the course work on line, in your own time, but before your first day at work – Induction day! The course is made up of five easy to follow modules; Safeguarding, Common Core, Food Safety Awareness, Human Resources Induction and Policies and Procedures. Each module lasts about 30 minutes to an hour and involves reading, quizzes and watching videos. Our E-learning programme is designed to teach you the basic concepts you will need to get the most out of your induction day. It is easy to follow and takes approximately 4 hours in total to complete.

Fit for Sport work in partnership with Lifetime Training to deliver an intermediate level apprenticeship in Activity Leadership in an enjoyable work environment. If you are looking for an opportunity to start or further your sports coaching/ child care career working with children, earning while you learn, then our Apprenticeship Scheme maybe for you. On completion of the course you will gain;

  • Level 2 Certificate in Leading Health Related Activity Sessions
  • Level 2 NVQ in Activity Leadership
  • Level 2 in Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Level 1 / 2 Functional Skills In English and Maths (dependant on current qualifications

Fit For Sport Application Process

New Starter Training Hub

Whether an apprentice or experienced professional all new staff spend part of their first few days in the business placed within one of our Training Hub sites. Our leading Site Managers will slowly ease you into your new role, introducing you to the team, teams structure and responsibilities and tasks you will be completing daily, in a safe and encouraging environment.

Our Training Hub sites help you to “learn the ropes”.  New staff spend their  first few days shadowing a company selected New Starter Trainer and their team of staff learning our key policies & procedures and how to apply these on site, how a daily provision is structured and how we engage children in physical activity.

The training hubs enable you to; feel supported, gain the confidence to perform your job well and  a great start to developing your knowledge of how Fit for Sport provides high quality children’s activity provisions.

Site Managers Training

Site Managers Training

Our comprehensive 9-week training Site Manager Development Programme is designed to provide current Activity Leaders and newly recruited Site Manager’s with the skills and competencies required to successfully run one of our children’s activity provisions in line with Fit for Sport’s vision and values. Workshops are carried out in small groups of 5-10 learners allowing ideas and best-practice to be shared amongst the group.  Topics covered include:

  • Policies and procedures – ensuring consistency
  • Standardisation and product – what are we trying to achieve and how to take ownership of this at your site
  • Ofsted – requirements and ensuring you are prepared for a visit
  • QA – making sure your provision consistently delivers to the highest standard
  • Behaviour management – empowering your staff to promote good behaviour and challenge unacceptable behaviour
  • HR – getting the best out of your team
  • Expectations – Company expectations of yours and your team’s performance
Advanced Site Managers Training

Advanced Site Managers Training

Ready for the next step. Never resting our our laurels our Site Managers Advanced Training programme is designed to support our Site Managers who have consistently performed who have achieved an appraisal rating of “Significantly Exceeds Expectations”. The course is designed to provide staff with the skills and knowledge to progress into different areas of the business or in preparation for promotion. This training course combines workplace-based learning with workshops, allowing learners to apply practical experience of running a Fit for Sport provision to different areas of the business such as training, compliance and regional operations.  Training modules may include;

  • Quality assurance – full site checks and how to provide feedback
  • Supporting sites to become compliant and high quality
  • Understanding ratios and how to ensure appropriate staffing levels
  • Supporting Ofsted visits on site
  • Carrying out onsite training for staff (activity delivery)
  • Staff engagement reporting and surveys

Placements may include rotations in HR, Marketing, Regional Coordination, Customer Relations or other business departments as course material and projects determine.
